  • A Bachelor’s Degree / National Diploma in Purchasing Management or equivalent
  • Proficient in standard business office software
  • Proficient in SAP materials management / purchasing will be an advantage


Work Experience:

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in the procurement of technical or engineered items in the Engineering or Mining industries
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a project procurement manager or experience in the procurement of site construction contracts
  • Proven track record in managing the interface between the engineering/technical departments and procurement
  • Development and implementation of procurement/sourcing strategies
  • International strategic sourcing and international procurement
  • Proven track record in low cost country sourcing
  • Proven track record in negotiating competitive pricing from suppliers and contractors

Project Procurement Management:

  • Preparation, optimisation and organisation of all procurement-relevant activities/transactions within a customer project
  • Ensuring best possible fulfilment of all project requirements by managing supply chain processes, from creation of specifications to delivery and payment
  • Monitoring of individual procurement transactions; optimisation of utilised resources
  • Coordination of global procurement activities in specific customer projects to ensure procurement contribution to project success
  • Managing interfaces between procurement and the project team
  • Ensure early procurement involvement in the process of specifying technical requirements (together with engineering and sales) to identify savings potentials e.g. by applying methods such as design-to-cost, target costing or value engineering
  • Research the supply markets, identify and implement the most important technical and commercial savings levers for early implementation in the project
  • Manage close collaboration and communication with engineering/technical departments
  • Manage all procurement project resources and activities; keeping all stakeholders up-to-date to ensure fulfilment of all schedules and quality requirements
  • Conduct contract negotiations and procurement risk analyses


Strategic Sourcing

  • Evaluate markets and sources of supply across the company product/service portfolio
  • Assess operational risks of current and potential supply opportunities
  • Generate and implement efficient sourcing and category management strategies
  • Analyse and calculate costs of procurement and suggest methods to decrease expenditure
  • Interact with, support and provide cost, pricing and sourcing data to the estimators and engineers in the business lines’ proposals departments
  • Develop and implement a standardised cost data base for proposals


Supplier Management

  • Identify and source new suppliers for key cost categories and ensure that such new suppliers are technically, commercially and financially evaluated and registered
  • As a matrix member of the various Business Lines proposal teams, source and provide the most competitive pricing to the tender price calculations.
  • Conduct negotiations with selected suppliers/contractors during the proposals phase
  • Conduct bid clarification / commercial adjudication meetings
  • Perform capacity reviews and planning with key suppliers
  • Perform performance reviews with key suppliers.
