MAIN PURPOSE
Technical Support for the Drives & Automation department.
Repairs and Warranties.
Commissioning.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Repair of drives and soft-starters as well as co-ordination of warranties.
Receiving, analyzing and repair of faulty units
Reporting to the client in writing and keeping proper record of repairs and returns
Preparing and submitting warranty claims on WEG
Keeping record of all warranty claims
Administration of the service center:
Putting in place necessary procedures and systems for administration of the service center
Ensuring that customers are timeously and correctly invoiced where applicable
Creating and keeping up to date a set of master technical files for each product
Ensuring that there is a sufficient stock level of required spares
Provide 24 hour technical support for the Drives & Automation business:
Receiving, analyzing and repair of faulty Drives and Soft Starters
Reporting to the client in writing and keeping proper record of repairs and returns
Preparing and submitting warranty claims on WEG
Keeping record of all warranty claims
Telephonic Support for Customers, Branches and Sales Engineers
On-site support for Customers, Branches and Sales Engineers
Site meetings
Problem evaluation on specific applications where equipment is used
Commissioning
Analyzing and drawing schematic diagrams
Attend to Breakdowns or Commissioning on site as and when required – This may require travel away from home, after hours and also sleeping away from home
Commissioning and testing of panels in the company workshop or at a Panel Builder
GENERAL
Comply with the prescribed company procedures and policies.
All staff are required to service customers promptly and courteously and to ensure that all queries are speedily answered and that all commitments are fulfilled on time.
Ensure tidy and orderly workshop environment.
Perform any other reasonable duties assigned to you, as and when required to ensure the smooth operation of the company.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Matric
A recognised and relevant qualification (Electrician or technician + N5 / T3 / S3 / National Diploma: Electrical Engineering Heavy Current / Light Current)
Minimum 3 years work experience specifically related to variable speed drives service and repairs.
Computer literacy – MS Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Syspro will be an advantage.
A keen sense of urgency and willingness to learn.
Experience in Control Systems and/or Process Engineering and/or Power Electronics and/or Instrumentation (in the heavy current environment) is an advantage.
Willingness to work overtime and be on standby when needed.
Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm as well as the willingness to handle difficult situations.
Ability to work well in a team setting
WORKING CONDITIONS
Mainly out of the office based.
